2005 Muddy Award Nominees in 4 Categories!

September 26, 2005

The CBA membership has recently nominated Rose City Kings for the 2005 Muddy for Best Contemporary Blues Act, while its latest release "Holler Out for More" is nominated for the prestigious Northwest Recording of the year. Dan Berkery, singer/songwiriter/guitarist for Rose City Kings, is nominated for Best Male Vocalist. In addition, Rose City Kings' member, Joe Powers, is nominated in the Harmonica category.

Named in honor of one of Blues music's most influential forces — McKinley Morganfield, or Muddy Waters — the Cascade Blues Association's annual Muddy Awards Celebration honors local, regional, national and international stars of the blues.

In September, the Cascade Blues Association solicited award nominations by mail from the CBA Membership. The top three nominations in each category were used to form the official 2005 Muddys Ballots. These ballots must be postmarked by the October 15, 2005 deadline and mailed to the CBA at P.O. Box 14493, Portland OR 97293. The CBA will tabulate votes in time for the gala Wednesday November 2nd General Meeting, at the Melody Ballroom at 615 SE Alder Street, where the winners are announced. Over 1,000 CBA members participate in the Muddy Awards process, making it one of the most prestigious blues awards in the world. For information, see http://www.cascadeblues.org/MuddyAwards/index.htm

Rose City Kings is a past recipient of the 2003 Muddy for New Act and 2004 Contemporary Blues Act.
