Last night was round 1 for the IBC in Memphis. Here is what Greg Johnson reports about our Rose City Kings:

Hey everybody,

The first night of competition took place last night in Memphis for the International Blues Challenge and Rose City Kings tore up the stage at BB King's on Beale Street. The Blues Foundation staff said BB's is probably the toughest club in the competition because of the talent level. For example, RCK went up against Teeny Tucker from Columbus, Ohio as one of the nine bands in the venue. Teeny Tucker won third place two years ago. RCK was so hot, Ricky Stevens, the venue coordinator stepped out onto the street during the second song and called all of the Foundation people over the radio, telling them, "You've got to get down here and see this band! They're amazing and tearing the place up!!" They'll compete again tonight at BB's with a new set of judges. Good chance of their moving onto the final. Ricky said in his mind, there are two acts in the venue (Tucker and RCK) that are going to be tough to beat and the margin is neck-and-neck."

I didn't get a chance to see Lauren Sheehan play, but was told she also did an exceptional set in the solo/duo competition.

Ready for another day of BBQ and blues.
