2004 MUDDY NOMINEE: BEST CONTEMPORARY BLUES ACT
September 26, 2004
Rose City Kings has just been nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Act by the Cascade Blues Association. “We are just thrilled and honored to have received the nomination from the CBA membership, ” said lead vocalist, Dan Berkery. “As we prepare for the International Blues Challenge, the on-going support of the CBA means a lot to us, ” said pianist Jeff Simonson.
For the past 15 years, at the end of Summer, the CBA has solicited award nominations from its membership. The top three nominees in each category are used to form the official Muddy’s Ballots. The official ballots are then mailed out to the CBA Membership; the returned votes are then tabulated in time for the November General Meeting, where the winners are announced at a gala awards ceremony. Over 1,000 CBA members participate in the Muddy Awards process, making it one of the most prestigious blues awards in the world.
Also, nominated in the Contemporary Blues Act category are Richard Day-Reynolds Band and the Strangetones. For CBA members, official ballots must be postmarked by October 15th and mailed to Muddy Awards 2004 c/o Cascade Blues Association, PO Box 14493, Portland OR 97293. As last year’s recipient of the Best New Act Award, Rose City Kings will appear at the gala awards ceremony to take place on November 3, 2004.
